How the Barba Group promotes sustainable development

Our commitment to sustainable development and sustainable fishing is at the heart of our corporate strategy. This responsible approach is reflected in our rigorous CSR policy, which guides our every action and decision in seafood transformation.

A global commitment to the environment

Our environmental commitment is part of a global, sustainable vision that guides our every action. Since the creation of our company, we have placed sustainable development at the heart of our strategy, with remarkable growth since January 2018.

Concrete commitments to the environment

Our Quality & Durability Development policy is demonstrated through tangible actions:

  • installation of solar panels on our production sites ;
  • recovery of fish waste as co-products;
  • recovery of waste water
  • implementation of a packaging sorting system;
  • development of an in-house analysis laboratory;
  • signatory of the Agro Occitanie CSR collective charter;
  • currently in the process of obtaining the PME+ label

Our factory enables us to optimize our processes while respecting our environmental commitments. We are particularly proud of our in-house “Quality & Ethic” label, which guarantees ethical fishing methods and respect for the marine ecosystem.

Dolphin Safe certification testifies to our commitment to the protection of marine mammals. At the same time, our partnership with Project Rescue Ocean since 2019 has resulted in concrete actions, including clean-up operations involving our teams.

Our flagship circular economy innovation is our Maison Pantuna brand, which transforms tuna skin scraps into leather to create eco-responsible footwear. This initiative is a perfect illustration of our determination to give a second life to the by-products of our business.

Social responsibility in action

Since 2018, we have strengthened our CSR commitment with a profound transformation of our business model. This approach integrates concrete actions in all our departments, from production to human resources.

Putting people at the heart of our priorities

The development of our employees guides every one of our decisions. We offer a wide range of training courses, both in-house and external, covering health, safety, support functions and management.

Our co-construction approach enables every employee to make his or her voice heard and contribute to the company's development.

Our social commitment extends beyond our walls. We are particularly proud to have been named the first winner of the “Eco-citizen Company” award by WeClean, with a remarkable 60% commitment rate from our employees. This distinction testifies to our team's collective commitment to our CSR approach.

Our social initiatives include :

  • the introduction of eco-citizenship ambassadors ;
  • active partnerships with environmental NGOs;
  • a responsible purchasing policy to ensure balanced relations with our suppliers;
  • a strong commitment to training and skills development.

This global approach to social responsibility is perfectly in line with our century-old family history, where know-how has been handed down from generation to generation.

Conclusion

Our commitment to sustainable development is reflected in concrete, measurable results. Growth proves that a responsible approach can be perfectly combined with economic performance. Our in-house analysis laboratory, our certifications and labels such as IFS and MSC, and our innovations such as Maison Pantuna all bear witness to this success.
